I have to admit the fear of false teachers /heresies and being led astray is a very real one for me … what does Peter teach here in 2 Peter 2 which can help us today?
stf
stopped reading at v.19 today
“you are a slave to whatever controls you” ouch
more later …
I think this is a reminder that we serve the same God of the old testament. And that the God of love is also a God of ‘righteous judgment’:v5. God is serious about holy living and does not desire us to be led astray. But just as He is a judge He is also a refuge for those who do listen to him and follow his command. We need to guard against false teachers. True freedom is found in christ alone. Darkness must tremble im Gods Holy presence.
Thanks James. You make a good point.
I’ve been re-reading the text tonight and still I return to the ““you are a slave to whatever controls you”
In the call to Holy Living it’s good to ask ourselves what is it that controls us. These kind of things but OUCH they are hard to answer
