What now? 2 Peter

Just a quick reminder what this blog is all about. A couple of months ago I started posting  a chapter of the Bible a day – sometimes with a question or two. (usually in the comments)… The idea – quite simply – is to get back into the Bible.

Some suggestions:

1. Read the chapter posted UNTIL God highlights something. Stop there. Make a note of the verse and allow the Holy Spirit to show why that verse in particular was a reuma moment i.e. important for you at this time.

2. Later on, after you’ve meditated on the verse, read the whole chapter again – and reflect on it.

3. Share thoughts in the comments if you feel you’d like to.

I first started doing this behind the scenes for a few weeks with a friend – just to see how it went – and it’s been wonderful. It’s also been good to do it on line. All comments are welcome but remember it’s the reading and allowing the word to read you that’s important!

Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ wrote a second letter, and we’ll start to look at that today.

2 Peter 1 (TLB)

Advance notice: After 2 Peter (which is only three chapters long), starting this week on Thursday 24th, we’ll begin to work our way through the Gospel of Matthew (see previous post)

Do read from any version and translation you like …I’m using the Living Bible right now (in order to review it) but have also found The Message really refreshing. Up until now I have usually used the NIV.

living life

So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech. 2 Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, 3 now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness (NLT)

So starts 1 Peter 2 … read the rest here. I’m using the NLT right now (in order to review it) but please feel free to use any translation or language you like.  Comments are always welcome
